Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous Proof-reader & Quality Control Specialist to perform detailed quality checks on our publications, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and consistency before they go to our client and print. The candidate will work on a variety of materials, such as books, magazines, LBL, newspapers, websites, ensuring that they are error-free and align with our quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

A Medical Proof-reader is responsible for reviewing and editing medical manuscripts, articles, journals, textbooks, and other related materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity. The proof-reader works closely with authors, editors, and other stakeholders to maintain high standards of medical literature.

Responsibilities:

Proofreading: Review medical texts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and typographical errors.

Medical Terminology: Ensure correct usage of medical terminology and jargon.

Consistency: Check for consistency in terms, abbreviations, and nomenclature throughout the document.

Formatting: Verify that the document adheres to the specified formatting and style guidelines.

References: Check citations and references for accuracy and proper formatting.

Fact-Checking: Collaborate with authors and editors to verify the accuracy of medical facts and data.

Style Guides: Apply the appropriate style guide (e.g., AMA, APA) to ensure standardization.

Software: Utilize proofreading and editing software tools effectively.

Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to authors and editors to improve the quality of the content.

Deadlines: Manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Medical Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in medical writing or editing are preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in medical proofreading, editing, or related roles is essential.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for errors.

Medical Knowledge: Solid understanding of medical terminology, concepts, and research methods.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Technology: Proficiency in using word processing and proofreading software.

Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
